Almost 200 people gathered Tuesday, September 26th on the public sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood for the opening prayer rally of 40 Days for Life.  Prayers and beautiful music glorifying God highlighted the rally.  Bishop Earl Boyea prayed with us and encouraged the crowd to remain faithful and vigilant for life.  Father Brian Lenz shared a personal story involving an abortion-minded family member but chose life and was so grateful for Fr. Brian’s intervention and support in her time of great need.  A small church in Olivet, Michigan contacted us asking to be part of 40 Days and, of course, we were elated.  Elder Jeffrey Whitson, of City on a Hill Church in Olivet,

offered powerful prayers and reminded the body of Christ to witness with love and mercy.  Beth Thorrez, the Jackson 40 Days for Life coordinator, recounted a beautiful and heartwarming story of a young woman waiting for a cab on the steps of Planned Parenthood right where we were gathered.  She had been there for an abortion referral and thankfully the cab never showed up to give her and her small child a ride home.  Beth offered her a ride and the beautiful work of saving baby and mother began.  The mother is choosing life and will be born mid-November! Thanks be to God for the witness of pro-life people.  We will need ongoing help throughout the 40 Days for Life.  Please see where the most needed times for prayer volunteers are on the calendar at You can sign up online or contact Beth at 517-262-1750 and she will sign you up.  Get a friend and come join the growing 40 Days for Life!

  1. Dear Friends of Life,

The 40 Days for Life is off to GREAT start. We had approximately 200 people on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood for the opening prayer service. What a blessing to have such a strong, faithful pro-life prayer community in Jackson. You truly have made this ministry your own! Still, it is a monumental task to fill all of the hours, twelve hours a day, for 40 Days and so here I am asking for more help. Would you be able to cover one of the following individual hours at the prayer vigil that are still uncovered?

Call or email if you can. God Bless you all as well as those out praying on the sidewalk today!

  2. Dear Friends,

Today is day 20 at the 40 Days for Life. At 8 pm tonight we will be half way through! Kathy and I have been so blessed by so many of you who are doing so much to make this run smoothly. We feel as if we are not doing enough because YOU are doing so much. I look at the names on the vigil sign-in sheets and see some of you have been there so many hours, some of you watch the online calendar and cover needed hours, someone (we don’t even know who) even opened the vigil one day when we had a bit of a mix up. The point is the LORD is working through every single person who says yes and offers even a single prayer for Life! We can’t begin to see most of what He is doing, but we trust in Him. I believe we will meet some wonderful souls in the next life who will share with us some of how the Lord used this work we are doing together to bring them to Him!

Saturdays continue to be our most difficult day to cover at the prayer vigil. If you are able to cover one of these hours in the coming weeks please let me know.

    God Bless you all!

“When the time comes, as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I’ve often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God — and a terror will rip your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there’ll be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world — and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, ‘Spare him, because he loved us!'”
