There was a time when what came from China was the Catholic Faith. Korean born Andrew Kim Taegon was trained in a seminary in Macao, China and later ordained in Shanghai. While crossing back and forth from Korea to China to arrange for more missionaries he and his companions were eventually captured and killed.
Things have changed for China.
The Bible is full of verses that say what goes around comes around. One of the most harshest is Exodus 22:22-24 “You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.”
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I personally have done nothing about suffering of the Chinese people and their not being able to practice their Catholic Faith, so now the whole world can’t go to Mass or Confession. Now the World suffers for sins of omission.
This is hard for us not being able to go to Mass or Confession for a while, but as it says in Hebrews 12:4 “..you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.” There are places and times where people went centuries without seeing a priest. Places where people are persecuted and killed for their faith.
Perhaps the time for good people doing nothing about the evil that persist in the World is over and this is our wake up call.
If there are places that can’t experience that Faith as we do, and we do nothing, who will do something when what goes around comes to us?
